Description:

The HL-1.5Kfx is our most popular amplifier. It is extremely compact and lightweight, having a small foot print, so it will not occupy much space in the operating station. In addition it is currently the only amplifier in the Tokyo Hy-Power amplifier line that is capable of operating both bands, taking full advantage of modern transceivers that have the ability of transmitting both on HF and 6M. The amplifier has a wide line voltage operating range. It can use 100V through 250V successfully. The amplifier transformer taps can be adjusted to fine tune the amplifier to the operator’s line voltage.

The amplifier incorporates four THP2933 RF Mosfets that are capable of supplying 1kW PEP HF and 750W PEP on 6 Meters. It also includes a built-in power supply and operates with line voltages of 100V-250V. The operating voltage of the amplifier can be fine tuned (via transformer tap settings) to the line voltage present at the operator’s station for maximum efficiency. The HL- 1.5Kfx is designed to integrate fully with the Tokyo Hy-Power HC-1.5KAT Automatic Antenna Tuner. The HL-1.5KAT Tuner band switching will auto-synchronize to the 1.5Kfx amplifier band setting (manual or automatic mode), following whatever band is selected on the amplifier. Most third party automatic tuners will also function properly, when used with the HL-1.5Kfx. Of course manual tuners can also be used, though band selection and antenna tuning must be done manually and carefully by the operator.

There is a front mounted meter. The meter’s function is selectable via the front mounted meter switch. It can display Power Reflected (Pr), Power Forward (Pf), Idle voltage to the MosFets (Vd), and Transmitting Current of the MosFets (Id). Additional front mounted controls are an automatic/manual rotary band switch to select the mode of band switching, automatic-via radio manufacturer or manual band switching via the up/down switches. There is also an antenna switch where the operator can select which antenna should be use for what band. In manual mode, the operator simply selects the correct antenna. In Auto Band switching mode, this function is automatically sets the correct antenna to a particular band. The amplifier will select the proper antenna A or B in auto-mode for each and every band the operator defines. Power On and STBY/Operate Switches complete the compliment of switches on the front panel.

There are numerous LED indicator mounted on the front panel. Power On, Stby/Operate, High Speed Fan Operation, High Current (Id). Warning lights include Over Drive, Overheat, Over Volt, Internal Fuse Open, and Excessive Reflective Power. A bank of LED's on the right side of the faceplate show which band is selected.

Rear controls include ALC adjustment control, Icom CIV sub-mini jack, Icom band voltage RCA jack, ICOM IV band voltage selector switch, DB-9 Kenwood Band data connector, Yaesu band data DIN Jack, HL-1.5KAT Tuner Interface DIN socket, Exciter (Radio) input, 2 antenna outputs, PTT keying line (STBY) RCA jack and a ALC RCA jack.

The amplifier is QSK capable (50wpm+) using miniature high speed Panasonic relays for T/R switching.
